Spring Kick Off Recap |
|
Two wonderful speakers gave all of us great tips on
how to prepare for this upcoming golf season.
Patricia Mary Poole talked about how to use
self-hypnosis to visualize your game, increasing
your ability to play a better game! Our own EWGA
member, Lori Ann Mirwald, now a certified golf
fitness instructor, helped us understand stability
and mobility in our golf – body motions!
The Royal Saint Patrick’s Golf Links provided a
great location and delicious food. We hope that you
will try out the course this season!
Proceeds from our silent auction will be going to
the
LPGA-USGA Girls Golf
and the
Candlelight Vision Corp.
Many thanks to the local companies that donated

Saint
Patrick's Day Virtual Gaming Event |
|
With the cancellation of Bunko because of bad
weather, I am sure everyone had the itch to see each
other again. We had a great turn out with Wii
challenges galore, our ladies were ducking soccer
balls, doing the hula-hoop, bowling, ski-jumping,
ring toss and much more. I am sure the group lost at
least 10 pounds playing and watching friends
playing! What a work out! We all loved the virtual
golf and I am sure, couldn’t get enough of it. Kathy
VanDeHey at MidVallee Golf Course was a great
hostess with extra surprises for all of us! Cheers!

Golf On Your Mind?
By
Lynne L. Finch |
|
Sure, golf is a game of skill. But there’s more.
One of the speakers at our EWGA Spring Kick Off
helped us focus on enhancing our mental game by
visualizing specific improvements. If you missed
it, ask around to find someone who was there to
tell you about it.
There are many ways to work on your mental game.
Recently, my brother-in-law, a great golfer,
lent me his copy of “Zen Golf: Mastering the
Mental Game.” I’d read it a few years ago but he
insisted, “Read it again and then read it
again.”
Before opening it, one thought that had stayed
with me came to mind. Most of us think we need
to “hit the ball.” This makes us focus on the
ball rather than the target when the real goal
is to get the ball closer to the hole.
What would happen if we focused our thought on
our real intention? Instead of thinking about
“hitting” we focus on “sending the ball to the
target.” Your mind is now open to visions of the
ball sailing long and straight down the fairway,
landing on the green and rolling into the hole.
Well, maybe not all with one shot, but you get
the idea.
Next time you’re on the driving range or walking
up to the tee box tell yourself how much you
love this game and what a great golfer you are.
Or as Babe Didrikson Zaharias said, “It's not
enough just to swing at the ball. You've got to
loosen your girdle and let 'er fly.” |
