Fit for the Future - by Lynne L. Finch |
If you watch a game, it's fun. If you play at it, it's recreation. If you work at it, it's golf. Bob Hope
If you laugh a lot and enjoy each round, it’s EWGA! Now’s the time when we’re just itching to hit that first tee shot of 2009. We dream of the ball going long (and straight) but are we getting fit for the season?
Golf for Women, until it stopped publishing last summer, offered great fitness exercises and how to manage the game emotionally. (Those are the articles that help me avoid golf course meltdowns.) Then one snowy day, a complimentary issue of another golf magazine was delivered to EWGA members.
Golf Fitness Magazine isn’t laced with testosterone, has a woman as senior editor and features a Ladies Tee department. That’s where I first noticed our new logo and read about EWGA’s goal of getting fit for the future. EWGA is much more than a local league with its commitment to enrich the lives of women through golf.
It’s never to late to start getting ready for the golf season. Your fitness plan can be simple and inexpensive. See “Homemade” Golf Fitness on page 68 of the Jan/Feb issue. Grab some Campbell’s Soup cans and start lifting while watching TV and waiting for the snow to melt.
Next on your fitness to-do list is to register for the Spring Kick-Off on April 4. Our two speakers will inspire you even more on how to “Get Fit” for the season.
Until then, keep lifting those soup cans! |

Introduction of the 2009 Member-Get-A-Member (MGAM) program |
Every year, headquarters sponsors an annual 'Member Get a Member' contest. All new members are asked to indicate what current member may have brought them into the group. Prizes are awarded on a chapter level to the top recruiters. Prizes are also rewarded to the best recruiters in the nation. Those recruiting 10+ members have a chance for being chosen as the Recruiter fo the Year. The 2008 winners for our chapter will be announced in the Chapter Chatter with prizes awarded at this years Spring Kickoff at Royal St. Pat's Golf Course on Saturday, April 4th.
With the start of a new year comes the new MGAM contest. If you've had a positive experience with our group, why don't you recommend us to family, friends, and co-workers and set yourself up for some fabulous prizes at the same time? More specific details on this program will follow shortly.
Your vote is needed for our new chapter bylaws!
One of your membership rights is the right to vote on specific chapter governance items. By now you have probably seen the logo changes that were put into effect for this year. Behind the scenes, updates were also made to the headquarters bylaws, which therefore transfer down to us. New chapter bylaws will therefore need to be put into effect. These new bylaws will be emailed to you on March 14th. Your vote is needed by March 21st in order to put these into effect. Please watch for this email. Questions in regards to this voting request may be addressed to President Lisa Werner using 'president@ewga-foxcitiesgreenbay.org'. |
